Youth Programme
In December 2011, the CFC Group implemented its Youth and Indigenous Programme. The goal of this programme is to provide employment opportunities for disadvantaged youth in the Swan region of Western Australia.Once the programme is successfully implemented in the metropolitan area there are plans for the programme to extend into the group’s regional operations and projects.
The Swan region has initially been targeted due to its close proximity to the CFC Group’s head office in Hazelmere, located near the Midland district.
The CFC Group has the capacity to place the disadvantaged youth into one of its companies, providing opportunities at Centurion, Underground Services, JCB Construction Equipment Australia and Cape Crushing and Earthmoving Contractors.
The CFC Group understands that in some cases, the youth would not have the required work experience, life skills or qualifications for them to compete for employment, so a different approach will be adopted.
Training and awareness sessions were conducted to ensure the existing work force were prepared for the arrival of the new employees and would provide them the best possible working environment and support.
A tour of the workplace was also undertaken prior to be employment of the youth, in order to ensure the best possible match of employee and work place.
In February 2012, the first five youths began employment at Centurion’s Hazelmere premises which is a very exciting start to the programme.
